The primary motivation behind the formation of the orchestra is to provide a platform for promoting music and to showcase both teacher and student solo performers. Galway Sinfonietta draws together talent from across the region through established music schools and academies countywide with the aim of developing skills and extending repertoire.
Mission:The Galway Sinfonietta is a non-profit, voluntary community project that delivers a fun, flexible and challenging programme of music making for new and established musicians who just love to play.
Members are drawn from many performance groups in the area and from returning Galwegians furthering their music studies outside of the city. The Sinfonietta has been created as a supplementary ensemble to support the development and growth of existing orchestras on an ad hoc performance basis.
